Who's on the guest list for a Vatican concert? Rome's homeless community

Vatican City, Apr 30, 2015 / 05:45 pm (CNA/EWTN News).- Next month the Vatican will invite Rome’s poor and homeless to a concert intended to raise money for Pope Francis’ charities, which last year boasted over one and a half million in charitable giving.

God has not abandoned us, Chilean bishop says after volcano eruption

Santiago, Chile, Apr 30, 2015 / 03:32 pm (CNA/EWTN News).- Facing devastation from the unexpected eruption of the Calbuco volcano in southern Chile, Archbishop Cristian Caro of Puerto Montt, one of the areas at risk, reminded the faithful not to lose hope.

“Let us place our trust in God who does not abandon his children,” the prelate said.

Two Australian drug traffickers shot by a firing squad in Indonesia refused blindfolds and sang “Amazing Grace” as they were taken to a jungle clearing to be executed, according to their spiritual adviser.

Australians Andrew Chan and Myuran Sukumaran, members of a drug cartel known as the Bali Nine, died early April 29 along with six other death row prisoners on the Nusakambangan prison island in Central Java.
