Vatican City, Jul 31, 2016 / 03:37 pm (CNA/EWTN News).- Pope Francis has questioned the claim that Islam should be identified with violence, in contrast to the Islamic State militant group, which he says is a fundamentalist sect of the religion.

“I do not believe it is right to identify Islam with violence,” the Pope told journalists during the July 31 papal flight to Rome following his apostolic journey to Poland. “This is not right and it is not true.”

Krakow, Poland, Jul 31, 2016 / 01:54 pm (CNA/EWTN News).- How can young people prepare for the next World Youth Day, Pope Francis asks? Remember the past, be courageous in the present, and have hope for the future.

The Pope made these impromptu remarks just before catching his departing flight to Rome July 31 during a meeting with the 20,000 volunteers who served at this year’s WYD in Krakow.

Sunday’s meeting came just hours after the official closing Mass for the international youth event in Krakow’s “Campus Misericordiae,” after which it was announced that the 2019 WYD would take place …read more

Poll: Clinton snags 7-point convention bounce

    July 31st, 2016 by Hostess

    By Worthy News Staff

(Worthy News) – Hillary Clinton leads Donald Trump 43-40 percent in a Morning Consult national poll conducted entirely after the Democratic Convention concluded Thursday night, a 7-point swing from a Consult poll done just before the convention.

But the survey of 1,931 registered voters, who were questioned Friday and Saturday, shows a race basically up for grabs. The 3-point difference is just outside the poll’s 2-point margin of error, and 17 percent of voters remain undecided.

Clinton personally gained very little from the convention, her numbers rising just 3 points from the 40 percent she was at in the …read more

Seven Years Later, Recovery Remains the Weakest of the Post-World War II Era

    July 31st, 2016 by Hostess

    By Worthy News Staff

(Worthy News) – Even seven years after the recession ended, the current stretch of economic gains has yielded less growth than much shorter business cycles.

In terms of average annual growth, the pace of this expansion has been by far the weakest of any since 1949. (And for which we have quarterly data.) The economy has grown at a 2.1% annual rate since the U.S. recovery began in mid-2009, according to gross-domestic-product data the Commerce Department released Friday. [ Source ]
